Coyote Linux Floppy Firewall has released a new version, 2.0. There are lots of floppy and or CD based firewall products based on Linux or BSD out there, why is this significant?
Well, I have tried a ton of the other mini distros and always ran into one issue or another. My favorites were always ClosedBSD and Sentry (which are CD based firewall distros) but ClosedBSD was TOO closed (no ssh access) and Sentry was a but unstable in the RedHat form (still beta). What I want was a 2.4 based firewall that can be floppy or CD booted (so that my firewall machines dont have to have a hard drive at all, less moving parts), runs iptables, and has outside ssh access.
I havent tried it out yet, but Coyote 2 is all that. Its 2.4.20 kernel, iptables and SSH 2.0.
