You think you are heavy in Missouri huh? Well try the Andes you fat bastard! Ok, sorry about that outburst I was obviously affected by a gravitational wave and cannot be held responsible for my own actions, yeah, thats it.
So why are you heavier in the Andes than the midwest of the states? Well because the Earth has variations in its gravitational field. These variations have been mapped by the US-German Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) and they say you are, thats why.
The maps are interesting and have lots of neat colors. The ramifications to weather and global climate understanding could be pretty cool too.
