Ford moving operations to Linux: theRegister

Well it seems that over at Ford Linux is ready for the enterprise? The fact is that many many large companies use Linux in MANY capacities and while the latest news that Ford is moving to Linux for "sales systems, human resources, customer relations and infrastructure" is a big announcement for Linux, its not the "vindication" that many are calling it.

Linux is Linux and Linux does what Linux does (right tool for the job and so on), some people are smart enough to recognize that and some arent. Apparently someone at Ford is and on the contrary someone at Continental is not.

Anyway, see the linked Register article for some more detail. Now if Ford could only make a decent vehicle with good mileage and emissions, THAT would be a story! (Sorry about the sarcasm, maybe in the UK things are better, but here in the southern states its all Excursions, Navigators, Explorers, and so on, and none of thoze guzzling smog machines are worth buying, PSHAAAW!)   Motor giant Ford to move to Linux
