MIT releases all courses and related materials FOR FREE on web

Wow! MIT has an initiative named OpenCourseWare whereby the institution is making all course material ("everything from class syllabuses to lecture videos for 500 courses") avialble FOR FREE online. Again, WOW!

The OCW site literally does have every MIT course online and available. Want to learn some math? Well then do it. The same goes for biology, physics, aeronautics and of course mechanical engineering and so on, you get the idear.
All in all 33 separate schools or categories each with an amazing course contingent.

This is a great idea and one "modeled after" the successful Mozilla project spirit of open source development in the hopes that the will spark a movement to put a "critical mass of knowledge" online for everyone.

Man this is cool as hell, now if I just had another 16 hours a day to take some MIT classes it might even be useful! (Thats just a joke, I know it will be enormously useful to many people, I just wish I had more time so it could help out with my intelligence issues.)   MIT for free, virtually

...must resist joke about your intelligence issues... must resist! LOL

Re: MIT releases all courses and related materials FOR FREE on

i was expecting more from you jason.

BTW in an unrelated note (well sorta related to my intelligence but unrelated to this story) i have been sort of thinking about discussions we had about space shuttle and nasa, and i have come over to your side, i think it is pork barrel mostly, once you delve into it. i think we damn sure need space exploration, but i dont think manned is required and i dont think the shuttle is by any means an efficient way to do it. so there, for once an argument did in fact modify someones viewpoint, albeit my own.

Re: MIT releases all courses and related materials FOR FREE on

Must have manned space exploration....
Must leave this planet...
Must be able to survive in other Solar Systems...
