SuSE has long held YaST (Yet another Setup Tool) close the the vest and not allowed descendant products to use it. SuSE considered YaST to be one of the major things that set them apart. Well in what I think is a very smart move Novell, which bought SuSE last year, has decided to GPL YaST. The goal is to make adoption of SuSE and its methodologies more widespread.
Its a great thing so long as the goal isnt to get everyone using SuSE and then pull the damn plug on new FREE versions and or any FREE support/updates (ala Red Hat, am I bitter?).
