Apple pushes SourceForge to remove PlayFair project: MacSlash

PlayFair was a great SourceForge project that basically decoded and saved "FairPlay" encoded files. FairPlay is the Apple (licensed from Veridisc) DRM that is hooked into iTunes and such.

It turns out, bug surprise here, that Apple didnt much care for "PlayFair" and issued a "cease and desist" order to SourceForge to get rid of PlayFair.

You all know what that means. Does it mean huge victory for Apple and they have successfully thwarted this attempt by end users to actually use the music they buy? Nope, it means PlayFair will be looking for a new place to be hosted, likely overseas. And it means a lot more publicity for PlayFair. Thanks to Apple.
