So I am going to start the MythTV project

I am finally going to actually start my MythTV project. For the uninitiated MythTV is an open source based PVR/Media Center. It has access to scheduling, full IR or RF remote control, can record programs, rewind/pause/ff live tv, commercial skipping and more (more being whatever you want to extend it to basically, HDTV receiver, DVD burn recorded programs, etc). Note that its likely not "cheaper" to build your own, but it does have some advantages such as no monthly fee, special features not available on commercial alternatives (burn dvd, commercial skip, etc) and some people might actually find building it to be *fun*.

I am starting with a research period and looking at other users experiences and hardware selection. I am thinking about the ASUS Pundit running one or more WinTV PVR 350 cards that sport MPEG-2 encode/decode onboard. I *might* throw in an HD-3000 HDTV Receiver card (if they are available). I still havent decided on all the pieces, there are many many choices, but I am working from the MythTV hardware recommendations.

After hardware is set I plan to use Fedora Core 2 for Myth. I have seen a few other stories about the Pundit in use for this and most have generally favorable results. There are also many other resources around the web for Myth installs.

I will keep things posted here. If anyone has tried this or has other interjection then please let me know.
