Spamassassin 3.0 is now out and along with being the some of the best/most useful software out there from a sysadmin perspective it sports a new cooler than thou logo with an Apache arrow spearing some envelopes (very important feature of the product, good logo).
I have been fighting some SA 2.64 battles for a few weeks now. Upgraded one machine to Fedora Core 2 and put new Sendmail 8.13 on it and SA 2.64 and somehow it just gets bogged down and the load average skyrockets (using spamc/spamd via procmail). Its spamd that spikes the load. I have used this same setup with Sendmail 8.12.11 and SA 2.x (2.63 latest) for years with no issues, on older RedHat machines. Oh well, maybe its time to stop fighting that battle and try out 3.0. http://spamassassin.apache.org/

RE: Spamassassin 3.0 released under ASF license
just installed it and got it configured to run with qmail-scanner.
I'm getting spam marked with the SpamAssassin header, but now I have to figure out how to get that filtered out.
RE: Spamassassin 3.0 released under ASF license
you can do it directly in your local delivery agent, procmail or maildrop or whatever, or you can of course just setup a filter in your mail client to catch that header.
RE: Spamassassin 3.0 released under ASF license
I use qmail for that too and I've not figured out how to do it. I will take another look at it again this weekend. Actually something else is wrong, too. The test spam messages get marked, but none of the real spam has been marked, so maybe something is not quite right.
