Firefox "community" marketing campaign

Check out spreadfirefox.com. An entire effort to get the word out to the world about Firefox. They have many different approaches and seem to have quite a few folks helping. The latest take is to get a full page ad in the NY Times all via donations from users. (And those that donate $30 bucks get their names in the ad.)

Very interesting approach to the "marketing" side of the house.

RE: Firefox "community" marketing campaign

Pretty cool. I think its a great idea. I just signed up. Its incredible that this was not done before. I really think its a testament to what the Open Source Community represents. They are not doing this for the money (at least for the moment). They are really doing this for the mozilla/firefox cause. I'm not certain of what the whole cause is, but I feel part of it is to offer users a better, safer browsing experience.
