Spyware removal tools review: Ars Technica

Really good article on Ars that reviews various anti "spyware" packages. Several of the titles are freeware, several are commercial, all get decent results with elucidated pros and cons.

While Unix folks wont need this many people using other OSes may. I have helped out several friends and neighbors who had a monumental load of crap installed, some of the items legitimate, some spyware, but all crushing Windows machines. (Note to Windows users, only allow up to 3-5 things in the systray, 78 things across the bottom is not advisable.) The article is good info should you ever come across the need to clean up a Windows machine, yours or otherwise.

RE: Spyware removal tools review: Ars Technica

I used to read Ars Technica, until it became apparent that "Caesar" Ken Fisher is a racist. He typically comes off like your typical smug armchair intellectual, but once he gets fired up, he's got quite a mouth on him. I've seen him get pretty worked up and go off on people on IRC over basically nothing.

It's too bad, too, since the other guys on the site like Hannibal are actually pretty smart.
