New DVDs developed that can store both normal and HD-DVD formats

The upcoming HD-DVD players will have a smoother transition for consumers with the advent of a new type of DVD that can store BOTH 4.7GB worth of standard data AND another 15GB for the new HD format. Huh, huh, cool.

Honestly after getting HDTV squared away and watching it in 1080i or 720p; DVDs just dont compare with only 480p. It will be nice to be able to watch a recorded digital video production from a major movie studio that has the same quality as over the air TV.

Wonder what 15GB of storage translates into hours of recording.

Found this "A single-layer Blu-ray Disc can hold 25GB, which can be used to record over 2 hours of HDTV or more than 13 hours of standard-definition TV." Blu-ray is different I know, but should give you an idea.
