Superbowl ads overall - sucked

Most of these ratings are very generous How Ad Meter focus groups ranked the ads.

Several of the ads were just plain horrible, the "nut loving bunny" thing was awful (yet got ranked high in the focus groups), the "dennis rodman in bath for some lame ass marble bathtub company" thing was even more awful and "gladys night rugby horseshit" was just . . . well "awfuller" still. It was basically just a night of crap.

Where do they get these advertising companies (yeah yeah I know, its rhetorical) and these campaigns, come on. There was also the "Napster Fiasco" which rated the lowest of all (yeah Napster is still around and as one commenter to that other story pointed out still trying to rent songs, rather than sell them).

There were a few decent ones, the "censorship board needs oxygen with hot chick testifying" was funny (and got rated poorly by the focus group), the "monkey ass kissing" was funny. And there were some ok ones like all the Budweiser ads and the "Cedric driving dance moves" stuff. But you arent supposed to show up at the SuperBowl with "ok" much less mega ass lame (the technical term for all the aforementioned awful ones).

It was just bad. I would rather have seen a "wardrobe malfunction".

Oh and the game was decent. ;)
It wasnt as competitive as the final score indicated (I dont think) but it was ok. The Pats deserve props for winning another one against a solid Eagles team, and both sides had brilliant defense, but overall it was somewhat "Pat" sided.

Didn't see any of it. American Dad was fair but promising. :P

I agree that most were lame. However, I think the Ameriquest "don't judge too soon" commercials were awesome! For instance the one where it looked like the guy killed his girlfriend's cat. Hilarious...

Here you can see the "censorship board needs oxygen with hot chick testifying" version that Fox refused to show, and the NFL persuaded Fox to pull the second airing.
Quoting bobparsons.com,
"The NFL persuaded FOX to pull our ad.
We immediately contacted Fox to find out what happened. Here's what we were told: After our first ad was aired, the NFL became upset and they, together with Fox, decided to pull the ad from running a second time. Because we purchased two spots, we were also entitled to a "Brought to you by GoDaddy.com" 5 second marquis spot. They also chose to pull the marquis spot."

Censorship sucks ass.

RE: Superbowl ads overall - sucked

wow, didnt realize the NFL urged fox to pull the second godaddy ad, that does suck.

and what in the hell for? there was no nudity really, nothing, a girl with more clothes on than the damn cheerleaders on the sidelines and old men googling over her. exactly how is that different than the goddamn game the ads are sponsoring? (well other than at least this had value in terms of humor.)

censorship does suck ass.

RE: Superbowl ads overall - sucked

You know, I think they just don't like someone poking fun at the whole censorship type moral majority thing. I think this decency overkill is killing legit radio and tv shows.
Bob Parsons is the owner of godaddy.com and on his blog he says he will update it as he finds out what happened.

Censorship sucks major ass.

Nice:

from Bobs blog

As you may have noticed our Super Bowl ad only appeared during the scheduled first quarter spot. It was scheduled to run also in the second ad position during the final two minute warning. Our ad never ran a second time. Instead, in its place, we saw an advertisement promoting, of all things, "The Simpsons."

How aptly put, of all things instead of the incredibly offensive godaddy ad it was a "Simpsons" commercial. Thats just damn funny.

RE: Superbowl ads overall - sucked

Man I missed all the ads this year. Who decided to schedule the Super Bowl during Mardi Gras??? WTF??
