Students, educators, people in general, have taken to protesting the Frist threats to use the "nuclear option" and ban the filibuster concerning judicial nominees (a move that would be profoundly wrong and ignorant).
The protests started at Frists alma mater, Princeton, in front of the "Frist Center" (which by the way his family donated - a family that is involved with Columbia/HCA health care a company which has been the subject of many fraud investigations and has paid billions - yes with a B - in fines and restitution as a result of said fraud).
The protests are now happening all over the country, the original has gone on for hundreds of hours (around 350 at the time of this post) and plans to go on indefinitely. Even a "fili-bus-tour" is planned.

RE: "Filibuster Frist" protests
Not a Frist fan, but just to be fair HCA was not in the hands of the Frist family when most of the scandals took place. At one time all the stock was held by them. Then it went public but held 51%, I believe. Then they let the family shares go to another group. That is when all the dirt hit. The Frists took it back over and cleaned it up.
RE: "Filibuster Frist" protests
Ummm... If you are talking about ownership, yeah, your timeline follows. However, Bill Frist was still CEO of HCA during the time for which they were fined 12 million smacks for medicare fraud, though he was already in public service [sic] by the time the fines were actually levied.
RE: "Filibuster Frist" protests
Those who were actually involved went to prison.
RE: "Filibuster Frist" protests
The Frist family was very involved, to be fair, even during the fraud. Fraud, Settlements and Recovery. (According to that source and various others "Thomas Frist who had presided over the fraudulent practices from 1984 to 1994 was not fired.")
RE: "Filibuster Frist" protests
What was there to be fired from? He was so old he was only a figurehead.
