Grandma sues Rockstar over San Andreas Hot Coffee

I put this one in the "humor" category because its just hilarious.

Grandma sues Rockstar Games

Hot Coffee is a mod which unlocks content of a sexual nature in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The content WAS origninally placed in the game by the maker, Rockstar, but was blocked out. The mod removes the blocking out. Rockstar may have had this content and decided beforehand it was too risque, and blocked it, or may have done this whole "block it - then mod it" thing on purpose (for later publicity? nah that would never work ;)). Either way the content in question is NOT in the game as it was released, its the game MODIFIED by the user to allow the sexually explicit content.

It was only a matter of time, and the woodpecker has popped out from the clock: a civil suit against Rockstar has been launched seeking unspecified damages as a result of the entire Hot Coffee fiasco. The suit alleges that Rockstar and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, engaged in misleading and deceptive practices in packaging and selling Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The suit was brought on behalf of consumers by Florence Cohen, aged 85, of New York. And I know you guys are going to love this one:

Grandma bought the game for her grandson. Her 14-year old grandson.

The person suing the company bought the game for a 14 year old. Then either that person or the 14 year old modified the game to get to the content they now find objectionable.

I also heard someone on the TWIT podcast (which seems to often be full of stupid utterances) the other day, speaking on this same subject, say they watched their 14 year old son playing the game chop someones head off and kick it down the street and THEN they said "thats enough".

Same old same old, the problem here is PARENTING, not VIDEO GAMES.

14 year olds shouldnt have the game in the first place, hence its 17 and up rating. And certainly people that modify the game from its original form should not complain about the modification they themsevles are making.

NO GAME should be given to a child until a parent either knows explicitly whats in it, or trusts the provider so much that they are comfortable not having explicit knowledege of the contents. Yeah, NO GAME. You cant give something to your son, then see the violence later, then say "thats enough", at that point you have already failed as a parent.

There has also been much discussion about all the "violence" in this game versus the "sex" and which is more important. Hogwash. Neither is appropriate for kids and this is NOT a game for kids (not to mention you can be a "good guy" in this game, it allows you the freedom to be violent but does not require it).

All the flap about this is ridiculous (well, and funny), its simply a game for adults that kids should not have, and its rated that way.

This is what "grandma" bought her 14 year old grandkid:
MATURE
Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, and/or strong language.

RE: Grandma sues Rockstar over San Andreas Hot Coffee

Man, one of my favorite things to do in GTA was to pick up a hooker, have sex with her for money, then kill her and get my money back...

But NUDITY?! That's going too far...I miss the days when they just stuck to wholesome cop killing and drug dealing.
