Its official, the big announcement was twofold, a new set of iPods called Nano and a new iPod phone with Motorola, named ROKR - as expected (not sure the *real* price, its $250 with a 2 year contract, ouch).

And note there is a ton of talk lately about a new line of solid state iPods and prices dropping on everything else. More iPod news should happen in the very near future (and we are talking solid state 4 and 8GB pods).

I agree - I'm liking the Nano. The phone sucks. Of course anything with a cheesy name like Rokr is bound to suck. Uh yeah - 100 songs. That's plenty, I'll only need one device now. Sheeesh.

Bah, Just give me some decent Contact/Calender software and a 4GB sticks for the PSP and you can all keep your iPods :P
For me, I still like my iPhoto. I can take all my music w/ me where I go and I can keep an encrypted filesystem on it also for all my person data so I don't have to keep it on my work laptop.

I carry my source code around on the Shuffle, though, and still have room for enough music to listen to during the day and a couple podcasts.
I mean, 150MB of Java source is a shitload of Java source, and there is still plenty of space :P

I am soooooo getting a nano. I got the low-end shuffle and love it, especially now that I am taking the commuter bus from Kennesaw to downtown instead of driving. I just need more of the good stuff!

I took the bus from another northern burb to an outer MARTA station, then took MARTA to a stop near work, then walked, for a while. I loved it, very nice GRTA buses (empty - 4-5 people) and nice train ride (tough MARTA has lots of other horrendous issues) and nice short walk.
I stopped taking the bus though, and am torn about it.
The problem was it took well over an hour for all parts/pieces which is longer than my car commute (if I leave early) AND the bus/MARTA pass was $90 a month (for 31 days 90 bucks, almost 3 bucks a day). Granted with current fuel costs my own commute, 25 miles one way, in a 25mpg car, costs about 6 bucks a day - and riding the bus/train was nice for reading and iPod time. But still I am just not ready for it to take longer and cost $90 bucks to go 25 miles. If it were a bus only lane . . . . hmmmmmm
