Scalito

Bush to nominate Alito to high court

Samuel Alito Jr.

Brilliant!

When you earn yourself the nickname "Scalito" you arent exactly going to be a mainstream choice that will unite the nation during such troubled times. Scalia has been called the most divisive and controversial figure on the Supreme Court. Picking someone "made in the mold of Scalia" might result in, lets see, quite a bit of resistance and further resentment for a President with - to be tactful - a record of really bad decisions (and outright deceptions - yes thats still the tactful version).

In order to match the level of Scalia you have to believe this nation should flat out frankly be a Christian one (among lots of other creative "originalist" constitutional interpretations dealing with all sorts of subjects). I actually respect that viewpoint even though I disagree (profoundly), because its HONEST. Its not the "under God is not religious" approach, its the "hell yeah we should have religion in government approach", honest.

We know quite a bit about Scalia, but this is not about him right, its about Alito. Lets hope the nickname is inaccurate. Regardless though it seems like a very strange time to want to stir up more controversy, but hey, at least this one has been a judge and went to a decent law school! (Now has Bush known him "for a decade" and does he know Jesus, those are the important questions.)

RE: Scalito

Can we just philibuster now and get on with the next nomination?
