Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has clarified his position on the "secret prisons" and the leaks.
Frist concerned more about leaks than secret prisons.
the leak itself poses a greater threat to national security and is "not concerned about what goes on" behind the prison walls.
Frist was asked if that meant he was not concerned about investigating what goes on in detention centers.
"I am not concerned about what goes on and I'm not going to comment about the nature of that," Frist replied.
He added that as Senate majority leader he is privy to classified information and discussions about prison activity. "I'm going to make sure that everything that's done is consistent with the Constitution ... and the laws of the United States of America," he said.
Well duh.
Newsflash Fristy - The issue is not that we think you arent watching and arent aware of whats going on, its that you dont seem to have any fucking grasp at all of whats actually IN THE CONSTITUTION OR THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES.
I have no doubt you will "make sure" that the torture is "consistent" as you see the laws, but somehow I dont think someone trying to make government less transparent at every turn by stifling every bipartisan inquiry into important matters, passing dumbass last second laws pertaining to a single person while usurping the courts, committing stock sales fraud now and massive fraud previously while involved in the private sector, pulling all sorts of "up or down" hypocritical moves and threatening to go "nuclear" on the Senate rules and now CONDONING TORTURE WITH AN "I DONT CARE WHAT GOES ON" statement is really up to speed with all the "law" type stuff.
Stick to screwing people over at hospitals Dr. Jackass. Never thought I would say this but can we have the bigot, "pick a man woman or even a minority", cat herding dude back now?

RE: "everything that's done is consistent with the Constitution"
It's really a shell game. Isn't the whole reason we are keeping prisoners off our shores is to keep our laws (ie Constitution) out of the equation?

Good point. That is indeed what "extraordinary rendition" is about, and yes why the "black sites" are in Eastern Europe and Thailand (well thats what the Wash Post said). We admit that crap when it comes to rendition, but of course this is totally different, your qeustion itself is an affront to the United States!
RE: "everything that's done is consistent with the Constitution"
On a related note its also been widely reported that the "leaker" in this case is probably a GOP Senator. Several senators have stated the post article looks almost exactly like it came verbatim from a briefing they had - for Republicans only (for what reason it was GOP only I dont know - seems like an important thing to let Senators know, regardless of party).
RE: "everything that's done is consistent with the Constitution"
Believe it or not, I feel that these black sites should be closed and anyone operating them should be booted out. Be it Bush, Frist, Cheney, Halliburton, my mom, your mom, whoever. It might be difficult to prosecute them under US law (sneaky they be), but there is a possibiility they could be tried under treaties. Apparently there is some possibility that the Eastern Europe countries are also subject to the same treaties we are. Will be a very sticky legal case.
RE: "everything that's done is consistent with the Constitution"
You know when that whole 'International Courts' thing was floating around a few years ago, where every modern country except the US was for an international code of justice (or whatever they were calling it) I always thought that our government was protecting us against stupid little countries filing unwarranted charges against us. I never in a million years thought we were against that because we had firm plans to violate all those laws outside of legal confines of the US.
RE: "everything that's done is consistent with the Constitution"
Yeah the International Criminal Court, the states had to stay out of that for fear other countries would absue it AGAINST us, right that makes sense. Lets see, dont commit war crimes, dont violate international laws banning torture, etc, dont get charged . . . whoops.
RE: "everything that's done is consistent with the Constitution"
I agreed with the reasoning for not getting into the whole International Courts thing, but yeah, this is bad. It really does call into question our motives. I still think it could be abused against us, but what happens if we are the ones abusing the system?
RE: "everything that's done is consistent with the Constitution"
I am gonna post more stories about cheerleaders having sex in bathrooms, the politics lately, as always, is just depressing.
