CNN "Pipeline" on demand news feeds

CNN now has a new service called Pipeline - to which you can subscribe for $2.95 a month and get 4 newsfeeds with minimal commentary and no commercials. CNN gets it? CNN gets it first?

Well sorta. Pipeline is probably streaming access (I have not signed up). Probably not just access to the shows in streaming or offline/download formats (not that you would really want the news offline - but thats another matter).

I would love to see every "cable" channel and "network" for that matter charge $2.95 per month for on demand anytime (anytime after the original prod-air date) access. Sure you might have 200 channels now for $100 bucks a month, but how many of them do you REALLY watch?

(And some networks might be able to make the same model work WITH commercials, a cheaper price or even free with commercials in the content - though yes selling commercials in a digital medium is more difficult and not as big of a revenue generator because viewers can skip them.)

"A la carte" TV is where this thing is going, "a la carte" with offline options, because of consumer demand it will end up there whether the networks like it or not (if they dont provide then other content providers will).

CNN is a start.
