"Nature" calls Wikipedia accurate

'Nature': Wikipedia is accurate

Wikipedia, the encyclopedia that relies on volunteers to pen nearly 4 million articles, is about as accurate in covering scientific topics as Encyclopedia Britannica, the journal Nature wrote in an online article published Wednesday.

And I agree.

With a disclaimer.

Use Wikipedia as a starting point. Wikipedia is amazing for the breadth and depth of knowledge and information that is there but you have to treat it, again, for what it is, a WIKI. Its a public forum where information can be entered by experts and clowns alike. You have to corroborate and qualify your information. Double check it, dont just quote or even accept Wikipedia as authoritative.

Its great that Wikipededia is working on ways to lock down certain topics that are "settled" and or use other means to become more reliable and accurate, but its still a Wiki, the issue lies in what the reader does with that information and how that information is treated, not with the website that displays said information (and displays it with disclaimers as to what it is all over the place BTW).
