The minority of Mac users still browsing with Internet Explorer need to consider moving to another browser very quickly, as Microsoft plans to discontinue support for IE beginning Dec. 31.
Oh happpy day, now if we could only get them to drop IE for Windows that would be a REAL improvement (as if anyone uses IE *version 5 because thats all that has been available in years* on their Mac with options like Safari and Firefox anyway).
The lack of support for IE is unlikely to be an issue for Apple users, most of whom already use alternatives. The only potential difficulty could lie with some sites that have been designed to work with IE only.
Most of us in these parts have been railing for years that sites that do this - design for a particular browser rather than a W3C standard - should all be kicked in the shin anyway. May such sites just wither and go away, along with the shortsighted/ignorant IT "managers" that spawned them.

RE: Microsoft drops IE for Mac
I don't know, if I was Microsoft I would be on a steady pace to create content for the mac. That very possibly will be the desktop of choice for the home consumer in the next few years.
RE: Microsoft drops IE for Mac
Great point. I agree with you. Microsoft though cant admit that, and I meant of course "o happy day" for USERS not for MS.
And they havent touched IE on Mac since 2003 anyway - abandonment has been there for a long time, just now official.
RE: Microsoft drops IE for Mac
Have they touched the Windows product since 2003? It sure doesn't seem like it, plus every report I hear about the next IE version seems to be adding another feature to the 'cut' list.
