iTunes Slammed

No response and or 20 minutes or more to download a song? That is one way to further kill iTunes (which in my opinion needs some work anyway - I generally like the interface, though it has a few quirks, but never buy any DRMd FairPlay crap and the speed of the app has ALWAYS sucked ass).

Now "expert" "analysts" are saying the iTunes "site" is being overwhelmed by holiday shoppers with new iPods and or iTunes gift cards.

Apple really needs to get a clue. Of all things iTunes should pretty much NEVER be slow, much less crushed (I mean they deal with some serious traffic on the store and handle that).

Sure iTunes is absolutely not a website (despite the expert analysis) but it does use a local client and remote server, which seemingly should be load balanced on some fancy ass akamaized Apple XServe scalable cluster. That or Apple needs to drop some cash on a few thousand Amazon S3 instances. ;)
