Cooper and I both have been working on a Maven GWT related project for some time. The project, gwt-maven is hosted at Google Code and provides a Maven 1.x plugin for GWT along with a support class (used by the plugin) - and a planned future 2.x plugin.
The docs for gwt-maven are hosted here on TotSP and the blog also has some existing install and overview information.
If you are using GWT this thing is darn helpful. While it is quite full featured right now, and allows you to run GWTShell and GWTCompiler with lots of options, and to create a one shot deployable WAR, more examples with datasources and a new fancy bean mapper (which will automatically create serializable GWT objects from an existing domain model) are also on the way.

Whoops, thanks for noting
Whoops, thanks for noting that. The names of those pages changed the last time that documentation was updated, I and did not go back and edit this blog post, will do so now.
That page is now called "sample" rather than "walkthru."
