Screaming Penguin - Source Does Matter

A new company took their product to beta today. MyWebOS.com takes the functionality of a GUI/OS type system, an office suite and such and bundles it into what they are calling the first Web based operating system. It looks really, really cool. I have long thought about the concept of creating a window manager/gui API based entirely on dHTML/CSS. As the Mozilla project advances, the base I have to draw from grows, but anyway, I was HYPED when I saw this ZD article (above), but when I get to MyWebOS, I find it requires IE5 on a Win9X/NT box. Heads up folks. Thats worthless. If your web based apps are only usable in any form on one browser for one platform, you suck. Might as well be a stand alone office suite that automatically uploads your files to an FTP site. Just a bloddy good.ZDNN Coverage
