IBM RS/6000 chosen as the A.Root Successor

Network Solutions recently replaced their Sun E10000 server that held the master DNS tables for all registered names names. Processing over 420 million requests a day, the A.Root server is now a big, black RS/6000 S80.
The S80-7017 has 24 RS64-III processors running at 450mHz. Big Blue claims it to be the fastest server in the world, and has sold just over 1000 units. Washinton Post Coverage
