Well, if you have been on the web the last couple of days, you can't miss the buzz about AOL in buyout talks with RedHat.
I figured it would have been IBM. :shrug:
There are several ways I look at this. AOL is already vested in Linux through Tivo and AOL-TV. I would bet that the AOL for PS2 will be a linux boot disc based on the AOL-TV code, but thats just me. So there are plenty of places outside the desktop for AOL to play here...
My question is, if AOL wanted to be in the Enterprise software market why did they sell their share in iPlanet to Sun? Hmmmm...
News.com is talking about Windows Desktop Replacement. I LOVE my Linux, but I don't think even a behemoth like AOL can pull that off right now.
