Builder.com pooh poohs Java

Ok, I don't even know where to go with this blatant Microsoft FUD You can't get through 3 sentences without realizing that Martin has his head up his ass. However, the quotes from the "Experts" are always the best...

"In terms of Java being used as a general programming language on Linux to do lots of different things all over the place, compared to C++, it just hasn't gotten there yet," Sutor said. He argued that an open-source implementation of Java that could be shipped with Linux distributions would make Java more popular in the open-source developer community.

I guess the fact that EVER BLEEDING LINUX DISTRO IN THE WORLD comes with Blackdown (Sun) JDK, Kaffe, GCJ and Jikes -- not to mention Tomcat and JBOSS -- is really the limiting factor here. And that schmuck works for IBM.

Is Java all the buzz? No. It has matured beyond that. But to say "Open Source" and "Web Services" are taking over from "Java" is just stupid. Look at what those Open Source and Web Services are being written in, and half of it will be Java.

As TSS has it in their J2EE myths today:

Myth: J2EE is dead!: +1 Can't prove it by me, guys. I get about a 50/50 split in J2EE and .NET requests, so if J2EE is dead, so is .NET.

RE: Builder.com pooh poohs Java

Nice article, and totally agreed. "Open Source" and "Web Services" are taking over from Java, LOL. Yeah and "Web Servers" are taking over from "Apache" on the "Internet".
