I've been saying it for years. And, well, so has anyone involved in computer security. However, now that CERT is part of DHS, It makes for much more dramatic headlines. I just wonder if Microsoft will sue for defamation in the US too... ...and I wonder if Ashcroft feels like an ass for giving them a walk on the the whole IE thing now.

I guess this is a new warning from "homeland security" but other government agencies have warned against it for years I do believe. Those involved in security as you mention. And you know what, political firestorm or whatever the hell else, they are CORRECT. If people would stop using IE and IIS (and Outlook) that WOULD stop 95% of the bullshit crap "viruses" that waste time and money and bandwidth every week.
