Myopia is a Lifestyle Disease

So there is the article at New Scientist saying that nearsightedness is lifestyle, not (so much) genetic.

Perhaps there are some influences there, and I will freely admit to spending more than my fair share of childhood looking at a computer screen, however, I was SEVERELY short sighted by the time I was 5. I have a hard time believing that was anything lifestyle related at that point. Especially when my father had the exactly inverse lifestyle habits, and everyone in my family has bad eyes, I tend to believe it is pretty much a genetic thing.

RE: Myopia is a Lifestyle Disease

I am not nearsighted now, no glasses or anything, see fine, and I am old and look at computers most of the day every day for years (although I did NOT much before I was 15 or so).
