Yes Big Brother if you would be so kind as to place an rf tag on my passport so that I could broadcast my name, address and whatever personal information you could to whomever wants it. I am sure that no ill will come from that. Perhaps we could also require that US citizens carry their passport in the US at all times to better able Homeland Security to track us at all times.

Of course the upside is that the Gap in London will be able to greet me by name and ask me how my last purchase is working out for me.

Yeah. Personally I have no issue with a national ID. I have no issue with a national biometric registry. This, however, is such a patently bad idea I have a hard time believing that anyone could even propose it without Ashton Kutcher jumping out with a video camera or something.
