It's FC4 Day!

Ok, so they haven't posted it yet, however, today is the scheduled release date for Fedora Core 4.

Things to look forward to in FC4?

  • KDE 3.4 -- I have been running this for a while under FC3 and while it isn't a revolution it is certainly a good evolution.
  • GNOME 2.10 -- It's like Windows, only gnomier
  • OpenOffice.org 2.0 -- Been using this a while too. It is really, really impressive. I am not sure, though, if FC4 will ship with the gimped no-Java-deps version or not.
  • The big change, though, is the slim-down of "Core". A lot of apps that used to be part of "Core" are moving to "Extras", like AbiWord, Gnumeric, KOffice, Exim, Sylpheed, Tuxracer(!!!!!) and XEmacs.

Anyway, check back at fedora.(not-so-much)redhat(anymore).com later and get yours!

And what in the hell, Tuxracer is no longer part of "core"? Man I tell ya, I knew this Fedora thing would be the end of cool Red Hat sponsored Linux as we know it and they would start the corporate bailout sooner or later, geeze. ;)
