Jack Kilby, the former TI Engineer who created the Integrated Circuit passed away a couple days ago from cancer. TI has a page up in his honor.

OK, Since nobody wants to comment on this, I just want to say, the fact that Kilby had to wait till 2000 for his Nobel was a jip, This is a guy that every gradeschooler should know the name of, but fuck if the cotton gin isn't going to continue to win out of the American inventor's scale.

And by the way, I would point out that he shared the Fairchild patent because, you know, the PTO wasn't full of shit back then.
