You know what, I am over terrorism already...

The National Academies are, "deeply concerned that the scientific and technical building blocks of our economic leadership are eroding at a time when many other nations are gathering strength. We ... are worried about the future prosperity of the United States. Although many people assume that United States will always be a world leader in science and technology, this may not continue to be the case inasmuch as great minds and ideas exist throughout the world. We fear the abruptness with which a lead in science and technology can be lost and the difficulty of recovering a lead once lost--if indeed it can be regained at all. This nation must prepare with great urgency to preserve its strategic and economic security." The richest man in the world is begging kids to major in CS. IBM is paying science teachers because the government won't. And over the last 4 years we have fallen from 17th to 25th in international science and math skill rankings among our youth. No child left behind, indeed. At what point are we going to wake up and realize that this is the greatest threat to our long term security?

Exactly, thats why the REAL debate should be when we start teaching ID in public schools and whether or not we let gay people get married!

I am not over terrorism. I do think W is going about it wrong, but I also know that I don't know shit. However, I can't agree strongly enough with the other sentiments posted. This weekend, my lovely wife and I were cruising along in our tree-destroying Yukon XL. This is not a small vehicle, and I have not installed the factory-optional stealth-generation field. Yet people pull out in front of me whilst I am going 50 and they give me all of a hundred yards or so and then they putz. I had an epiphany when this happened for the third time in a thirty minute span. These people simply don't understand the basics of our physical world. These same people, ( I live in East-Cobb, and I'm mostly OK with that,) that want ID (hence, the mostly,) in our schools, (which are otherwise the best among our shitty state's,) taught as a science realy just don't fucking get physics. They don't understand the transfer of kinetic energy and they just don't fucking get the fact that I have a shit-ton more mass than their little Acura toy-suv-wannabee or honda crv and that they will end up as bumper decorations on my truck.... looking ever-so-much like a deer strapped to the front bumper... That's the thing with ignorance.... (and I'm being kind there.) The ignorant don't know they're ignorant and now their kids are gonna be just that much more ignorant and jesus, it makes me wanna move to montana and buy some land and just hole up.
