Fedora kisses Mono

On /. today:

Surprise! The Fedora Core 5 Release will include Mono in the distribution, in spite of Red Hat's opposition. In addition to the Mono runtime, it will also include Mono applications like Beagle and F-Spot.

This is great. Really. Beagle and Dashboard are two of the best Linux desktop apps in a long time, and I think, critical to Linux remaining a viable alternative to Win/OSX. Getting Beagle running on FC4 is a serious chore because of kernel recompiles, so I am really happy about this.

It is also nice to see the Fedora project officially tell RedHat to suck it on this one. They proved me wrong, I am happy to say.

Now if they would just update IPW2200, IEE80211, add MadWifi and compile USB-HCI as a [m] and add LoCoMo, I would be giddy.
