If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.
The only thing I don't like about this one is that the keyboard isn't detachable like on the Compaq (blech!) version. A buddy of mine has a Compaq and that thing is pretty damn cool. I'm thinking of getting a wifi-enabled one for my wife to use around the house. That way she can answer my e-mails and still cook and clean and stuff. I'm always thinking of her needs, ya know...
Tablet PC's are cool, but they are still just laptops. I think they need much improvement on both physical features and software features before they will be something special,..just my thoughts.
My only problem with "tablets" right now is the power problem. I mean, yeah, a big fatty tablet is cool, but if I am going to develop a usage pattern for a tablet that is signifigantly different from a "tethered" or even "portable" computer, the battery life needs to be like 10 or 12 hours, not 3-5.
And is it a tablet? Amazingly put it is just a Touch Screen... which is one of the best (and worst) things about tablets, then work only with the special pointing device, the "pen".
Have you seen any Keyboardless tablet for linux?! Preferably SuSE :D

i never thought of that "so she can still cook and clean" angle, very very nice work there.
Re: Linux tablet PC breaks $1,000 barrier
Agree completely - I'm really looking forward to the potential of miniature fuel cells to power these sort of devices for longer periods.
