RE: New iMacs and eMacs

Those are very nice, still a bit rich for my blood though. Now I know these are far better machines than what other PC makers offer (Dell/Gateway, etc), considering you get Apple quality hardware, OSX (tiger) and so on, but to really compete Apple will need 400 models with monitors (IMHO). You can get a cheap desktop nowadays, complete with monitor, speakers, printer, etc, for $400 bucks. So whether its valid or not that IS the comparison to the least expensive of the apples (which is still 800 bucks with a monitor, the low end eMac, if I read it correctly).

RE: New iMacs and eMacs

Once you add everything that comes with the iMac to a PC,..160gig drive, bluetooth, wifi, dvd burner, 17 inch lcd, etc....you will be at or over the price of the Apple. I do understand you still want a cheap option which the mini would do a better job of if they offered a cheap end lcd with it.

RE: New iMacs and eMacs

I still like the previous style of iMac with the swing arm. It looks like they are getting a little more reasonable, but frankly at the $1700 price point, they outta have a much much better video card
