Soviet engineers who at one time designed missile defense systems for the Soviet Union are now apparently dabbling in microprocessors, and doing pretty well. While they have not fabricated any chips, it is fully designed and simulations show it running twice as fast as Intel's Itanium.The fabrication is expensive though, and the plant will cost over $1B.
