Motorola Scientists, along with scientists at Los Alamos National Labratory, have developed a fuel cell using liquid methanol that will last up to 10 times longer than traditional rechargable batteries. How does it work? The inexpensive methanol, when combined with oxygen from the air, produces electricity. The battery that can power a cell phone for over a month and keep a laptop running for 20 hours will come in a transparent plastic ink-well shaped container so consumers can gague how much battery life is left by looking at the remaining amount of liquid methanol. BTW, winshield wiper fluid has alot of methanol in it, hence the story title. Check the story. news.com story
