Oracle's Larry Ellison announced that his company is developing a $150 Network Computer based on the Linux OS (unsure what dist.). The system will have no hard drive, but will come with 64MB RAM and load all applications off of a bootable CD-ROM. Netscape Navigator will be the system's web browser. This low-cost, Linux-based computer is aimed at the education and hospitality industries, who could easily flood the classrooms and hotels respectively with these cheap boxes.Since all software is loaded off of a CD, it would be cool to build your own Linux configuration (under 650MB, ofcourse), ghost it to a CD, and have a customized NC. Just a thought.
