Dashboard PC (a.k.a. my summer project)

I have been discussing for a while the concept of building a PC to put in my car for the purposes of MP3 playback, GPS navigation, etc (the amount of things you can do with a PC in your car should be obvious). I decided to do a little research and I stumbled upon a few sites.

  • www.dashpc.com - this guy has a pretty nice linux setup with a touchscreen LCD in the center console and another LCD in the back headrest (fully equipped with PSOne). This would be the system I would model if I did this in my car (except I would use a DC-DC power supply instead of an inverter).
  • www.mp3car.com - a web ring of sorts for people who have made such modifications. This site is most useful due to the examples section which lists personal homepages of some 350 people who have done this sort of project. If you can't find someone here who has done what you want to do, you probably won't find it anywhere.

I just wanted to submit this info to the community and hopefully solicit some feedback. Is there anyone out there who has done something like this? Any tips to share?   Dashboard PC

Andy, I havent done this before, but its a pretty cool undertaking, let me know if there is anything I can help with. And of course, either way, let us know how it turns out.
