After only a few short weeks in the spotlight, RedHat's first beta (Fisher) following the poorly-received 7.0 release steps aside. The new beta steps up to a highly-patched 2.4.1 kernel with a newer KDE 2.1 beta snapshot. GIMP 1.2.1 is new with this beta release and Mozilla has been added as a new package. Re: New RedHat Beta
redhat has had a few "issues" with the releases as of late, wolverine sounds cool and all, but i am waiting for a real rev of 7.1, my 6.2 customized just runs to well to muck with. (uptime 112 days on one box!)
Re: New RedHat Beta
Yeah, Im still running 6.2 at home, but I have 7 at work. 7 sucks, but there are alot of things that I link, first off RPM4 and all the new versions of crap (Xfree for instance) is handy. I like running KDE 2.1 (which would require way too much work to set up on my 6.2 box).
Redhats lame-ass releases of late though (7.0, followed by Fisher anyway) are about to make me become a Mandrake user.
Re: New RedHat Beta
yeah i concur, the 7x fiasco is a bunch of crap, what the hell is going on over there, is the netscape release manager running things (little mozillas not ready jab there.) i still run 6.2 at home for servers and at work.
my 6.2 at work runs great with xwindows, KDE 2.1 (and it was no fuss at all to set up, other than I had to compile artsd myself because of a flaw in the RPM, which I found reference to in the KDE bug reports) Vmware and all. works frickin great.
