MobiBLU claims that the DAH-1500i is the world's smallest flash mp3 player, and I've been unable to find anything to dispute that. Prior to purchasing it, I looked at the few photos I could find and tried to envision the 24mm size with a small ruler. With the thing in hand, all I can say that it's really, really tiny. Maybe the image will help to illustrate...

RE: Smallest MP3 player so far-- with display!!
Hmmm, thats pretty neat looking. Not only that small but illuminated as such.
I was at the store looking at all kinds of MP3 players the other day. All my neighbors kids want them, my kids want them (and they arent gonna get to use mine very often ;)). I was struck by an entire aisle of products with NOTHING compatible with Apple - except of course iPods.
And of course iPods are really damn nice players.
I was looking for something on the cheap end, for the kids, and you really cant beat the 79-89 512MB iPod (store.apple.com - refurbubished in box w/full warranty - the new one non refurb is 99 or something - but same warranty).
I was trying to find something cheaper, some RCA, Sony, Samsung, whatever, but has to be able to sync via an Apple.
Thinking about it I guess that sort of makes sense, these guys dont want to compete with Apple and figure why go the extra mile to make an Apple rev of the software when anyone with an Apple is just going to buy an iPod anyway. Yet still it seems like the way to break into the market more might be with PRICE and APPLE compat.
RE: Smallest MP3 player so far-- with display!!
Those MobiBLU things look pretty sweet. They have them now in stock at Wal*Mart but again everything on that list under a 100 bucks has no concept of anything other than Windows for MP3 mgmt and transfer, etc.
RE: Smallest MP3 player so far-- with display!!
Ok even though the store I was in did not seem to have any, it appears after more research there are other OSX compat mp3 players - and those that use just a USB drive with no additional driver or software would work also.
For example the Rio Cali, the TwinMos S11 so on. They just end up in the 79 bucks range and at that price the shuffle still wins.
RE: Smallest MP3 player so far-- with display!!
Yeah I have really changed the subject here, sorry, but also you can make the creative ones work with XNJB it appears.
And the iAudio ones are supposed to be OSX friendly, but still start around 100 bucks.
Shuffle wins.

RCA Lyra RD1072 256MB - compat and 59 bucks. Thats close to a competitor, 20 bucks cheaper than a refurb shuffle. Might be the ticket for the kids.
RE: Smallest MP3 player so far-- with display!!
For 20 bucks though I am not sure I want to eat AAA batteries instead of a rechargable shuffle (though yeah you can get recharge AAA, but what a pain in the arse).
comment spam session over - really
