jwz - the internet is a strange and mysterious thing
120 Minutes playlists, 1986 - 2003. I think I watched every episode from 1985 - 1993.
Yeah, that is some serious wayback, but I am more of an 88-97 guy. 120m jumped the shark when Korn and the rest of the talentless crapstains of "nu metal" came around.

I used to watch back in the day also, when MTV actually had videos and shows about music. I even notice a lot of bands that I went to see in person on the older lists (some a little obscure, Screaming Trees, Butthole Surfers, Charlatans UK - tangent, I saw the Charlatans UK, with Pearl Jam and a few others, at what Eddie Vedder called "our first large arena show" at the time, in Dallas in what had to be the very early 90s, 91-92 - don't recall the name of the series).
And I would have to agree that in later years, things were not as interesting to me, don't know if I would call it all "talentless crapstains", but eh, not as good as "the good ole days." For example, while I cannot stand Korn, I love Cake, and also Everlast - both showed up in 98. And Ben Folds and the Cranberries, 99 (though some of that does not seem very "120" in terms of genre). It wasn't all crap, but yeah you can take Limp Bizkit and Korn, and their ilk, and just go the hell away for all I care.
