First "Commercial" Quantum Computer Solves Sudoku Puzzles
Most of the skeptics of the D-Wave quantum computer are still just that, skeptics. D-Wave says the device is a "systems level proof of concept" meant to "stimulate imagination." The initial demonstration was done remotely (the machine is too sensitive to move), and D-Wave has yet to submit anything to a peer reviewed scientific journal (though they do say that is in the plans).
The D-Wave device is supposed to be a 16 qubit niobium based adiabatic quantum computer (for now, 1000 qubit planned), but some outside observers have been dubious, and the company chief himself said there is still uncertainty that the calculations being performed are actually of a quantum nature.
