Ok, even though I am trying to wean myself off the "X was released" posts, this one is actually news: Maven 1.1.
That's right tough guy, not a new minor rev of 2.x, but a blast from the past update to 1.x. I applaud this actually. I know they have been working on it a while, and I still use Maven 1.x (both at the office, and away). It is only a maint/bugfix release, but still welcome news.
Many of my plugins are still 1.x only (Emma, for example) and I can just get around better and get stuff done faster with 1.x, access to jar overrides and maven.xml and so on. It's not as pure and elegant as the total Java solution of Maven 2, but it seems to be easier to deal with in certain scenarios. (A lot of that is admittedly probably due to my familiarity and knowledge with 1, and lack thereof with 2. But the same argument applies, 1 is working man, no need to fix it right now.)
Maven is love/hate in any version of course, but a common build landscape and the dependency management it provides is good overall - I think. Props to the team, and yes, there are still some Maven 1.x users ;).
