I love how this only goes one direction: "the child should have the freedom to worship as she sees fit, and not be influenced by prospective parents who do not believe in a Supreme Being."
Maybe the child should also have the freedom to NOT be indoctrinated by parents who DO believe in fairies and goblins and angels and devils (that is, fantasy). Maybe, it being a child, the state should shut the hell up and bow out, and when the kid is old enough to consider superstitions, um, er religions, with some rationale then he can decide for himself.
Just a ludicrous "case" (especially when you consider it's an adoption, etc, these people want to take the kid and take care of it, and they have a flawless record . . . oh whatever, I give up).
