Call me irrational or whatever you want, but if Microsoft ends up owning Yahoo!, then I will look for other places to move my deli.icio.us and Flickr stuff (both things Yahoo! bought, but really the main Yahoo! things I use on a day to day basis). I just can't stand Microsoft, on a historical/experience level, and on a company/philosophy level - have seen too many things burned too many times to go there.
That said, despite my personal concerns, I do think it's probably a good move for MS, and really not bad timing for Yahoo! either. The real value there is not with del.icio.us or Flickr, it's with online ads on every property that gets a lot of eyeballs. A combination of the services MS and Y offer in terms of search and ads would be a powerhouse. Not sure how it would really play out in the long run, but Yahoo getting paid off now, and MS revving up by acquiring them makes some sense.
SIDENOTE:
I am not a financial guy, but is this the time of the year for acquisitions or something? The big ones were of course Sun-MySQL and Oracle-BEA, but now we also have Nokia-Trolltech and talk of MS-Y, seems like a bonanza of late?

Yeah, I have been expecting
Yeah, I have been expecting this for a long time now. I am not sure I would bail on flickr, just because it is still the best photo site out there. However, I will be eyeing with great caution for signs of MSization of Flickr. If it starts to look like "Live Photos" then yeah, I will bounce.
