I just noticed that Hani posted over the weekend, woot:
http://www.bileblog.org/2008/05/java-haters-gtfo/
And a subject near and dear to my heart, as I am not one of those "arghh I hate to even look at Java now . . . " types. I actually like Java, it's not perfect, and it's not appropriate for everything, but still you can build great apps with it and *not* do it completely stupidly (though you can also overbake it as well, but that is true of any language).
Not that I dislike the dynamic language buzz, I think it's good for programming and software development in general to have people excited and thinking about any language - rising tide - but I sure as hell just don't subscribe to the "java is dead" meme - that's ignorance speaking (as a language AND as a platform).
Or put another way . . .
The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't: I'm not dead.
The Dead Collector: 'Ere, he says he's not dead.
Large Man with Dead Body: Yes he is.
The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't: I'm not.
The Dead Collector: He isn't.
Large Man with Dead Body: Well, he will be soon, he's very ill.
The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't: I'm getting better.
Large Man with Dead Body: No you're not, you'll be stone dead in a moment.
The Dead Collector: Well, I can't take him like that. It's against regulations.
The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't: I don't want to go on the cart.
Large Man with Dead Body: Oh, don't be such a baby.
The Dead Collector: I can't take him.
The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't: I feel fine.
