MarsPhoenix: Descent thrusters moved the topsoil during landing, uncovering the ice table. The pic was taken for engineers to check my legs, and voila!
MarsPhoenix: Peter Smith says team has nicknamed the ice area "Holy Cow!" Those were the first words uttered in the ops area when image was received.

Looks like concrete to me. I don't think there is any "Mars Lander" that was launched to "Space". That is all done in some Hollywood set.
