... but NPR wants a list of 100 greatest Sci-Fi/Fantasy books.
Fantasy sucks.
In general decending order:
0. 1984 - Orwell (Really, this should be before #1)
1. Brave New World - Huxley
2. The Time Machine - Wells
3. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea - Verne
4. Frankenstein - Shelly
5. Dune - Herbert
6. Neuormancer - Gibson
7. The Handmaid's Tale - Atwood
8. Foundation and Empire - Asimov
9. Rendezvous with Rama - Clarke
10. The Martian Chronicles - Bradbury

Right up front: 4.9 on our scale of 5.2.
You should see this movie. And you should see it in IMAX 3D. The "Candy" of the experience makes up for everything the movie is lacking.
That said...
A number of critics have noted that the movie is too long by some order of minutes. I agree. The first trailer hooked me on the movie:
YouTube Trailer 2
the problem is, this is "trailer edited." This whole setup in the movie is like 20 minutes. The trailer edit basically shows what you needed.

Ugh. What a load of crap. So Aaron Sorkin, literally my favorite movie/TV writer wrote this movie "The Social Network." It was directed by Fincher and scored by Reznor/Ross, and it is brilliant.

So there seems to be some stink about the presales tickets for Atlanta's Nine Inch Nails/Jane's Addiction show last night. Honestly, I think people are full of shit.

Let me start by saying, I loathe J.J. Abrams. His Mission Impossible outing is the only thing I have ever seen of his that I thought was of at least tolerable quality. Everything else he has ever made sucks. While many people will try to tell me it doesn't, they are either philistines or deluded.

So, it took me a few days to get around to watching it, but I got to Caprica this weekend. If you don't know, Caprica is a prequel series, set 58 years before Battlestar Galactica. Ron Moore and David Eick promised something completely different. They both delivered, and failed magnificently on this promise.

So what the hell is Starbuck?
My original guess was she was the "Human girl in a cylon body from Caprica," but RDM just bailed on explaining that at all.
Guitar shopping

Lately I have been doing some guitar shopping. I have been thinking about getting back into it for a while now, after many years away, and was curious what real musicians might recommend as a good "beginner" guitar.
I have some preferences/prejudices from back in the day (I like Ovation, even though I know some people don't prefer them, I had one years ago and it was solid - I like the price point and idea of the Celebrity), and so have been doing some online research.
